Foot by Joe Keenan

"I am sending along an image I produced a few yrs ago, not long after i got my first PC. One of the first things I did then was to start scanning these small rectangles of paper I had in a box from a few years earlier, on which I had written various phrases and other units of language that had attracted me for one reason or another. I scanned them and messed some with them and looked at them to see the effects of light coming through them. It is hard for me to tell how these things look to other people, because to me they carry this wierd aura of their history - of all that was going on around them while they sat in the box or, before they got boxed, got laid around the room and looked at, over and over. I do know that I am completely enthralled by any image of paper on a computer monitor, especially if it has writing on it. I remembered this particular one when I got to the digital incubation page, I think because it had always reminded me of a cave painting, not that it was ever intended to look that way. I think it is named foot.jpg because the impressions in the bottom right corner are from a sneaker print."
