Tempered Enthusiasm

Societal bounds on individual
(unless they share the conquest)
enthusiasm

(sure, the child in the aisle 
seemed at home singing her
"I'm Having Fun" song, still

add eight years and 
it's crazy.  Tell yourself,
not all laughter is derision.)

is only disheartening as a rule
to follow knowing 
there's no such bound 

on the group.  Whoop, whoop
what are you staring at?
Mother (nature, you would think

besides her smell of gravity)
shouldn't bully the child
early on

by pressing down.  To keep the
child sitting until she
(and all her cohorts - everything)

is ready to watch the first
steps, the young one was prepared
to take minutes ago.
